Just for Fun

This was written for the child of a friend:

Santy Anno — version by V. Grauer, for Bobo Cummings

There’s plenty a gold so I  been told,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
There’s plenty a gold so I been told,
Way down the Gulf of Mexico.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go,
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.

The sun shines bright across the sea
Heave away, Santy Anno.
A river of gold that beckons me
To sail the Gulf of Mexico.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.

The sun runs bright across the skies,
Heave away, Santy Anno,
O that gold coin is what I prize
Way down the Gulf of Mexico.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go,
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.

A pirate ship is all we need,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
And winds to keep us up to speed
As we sail to Californio.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go,
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.

Our pirates all are brave and strong,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
They sing all day as they roll along,
Bound for the Gulf of Mexico.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go,
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.

The moon stands still in sea and sky,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
It’s gone to sleep and so have I,
Down in the Gulf of Mexico.

So heave ‘er up and away we go,
Heave away, Santy Anno.
Heave ‘er up and away we go,
To sail the seas and skies, Bobo.
